Koenigsegg Sets Fastest Time To Go From 0 – 186MPH – 0

Koenigsegg-One1-7What has 1341 horsepower and goes 273 MPH? We’ll give you a hint, it’s not a Bugatti Veyron! With possibly the hardest name to spell in all of auto history, Koenigsegg produced the One:1. Why the weird name? Well the One:1 has a power to weight ration of…you guessed it, 1:1, or so Koenigsegg wants you to think. With a curb weight of 1360 kg’s and a horsepower rating of 1341 hp, the Koenigsegg, at least by our standards in the USA, has a power to weight ration of One:2 because we see the curb weight as 2998 LBS.

Regardless of that, the highest horsepower Bugatti is a measly 1200 horsepower. The Koenigsegg laughs at 1200 hp, packing on another 141 hp on top of that, not to mention it weighs a heck of a lot less than the heavyweight Bugatti.

What powers the Koenigsegg One:1(2)? Well, the Bugatti has to lug around its massive W-16 engine while the One:1 is like a tap dancer with its 5.0 liter V-8 twin turbo engine. Mounted to that is the seven speed dual clutch gearbox. Wondering how they get that much power out of a puny little V-8 such as that? Well, the twin turbo’s are pumping out 26.1 psi, that’ll help a bit.  At it’s peak the One:1 will be pushing out 1011 lb-ft of torque! Guess how high this thing revs? Did you guess 8250? You’re the man if you did.

Let’s put in perspective how fast the One:1 is. A diesel smart car will go from 0-60 in 19.7 seconds. The Koenigsegg One:1 will go from 0-249MPH in 20 seconds…flat out Koenigsegg claims it wilil do 273 MPH. Check out the video released by Koenigsegg documenting the new record of going 0 – 186 MPH then back down to 0 again. This car is no joke.

We need your opinion though, does the video seem somewhat, “amateur” for a company selling a car for $1.5M? Let us know in the comments below.
