First Drive Of The Koenigsegg That Only Has One Gear

Koenigsegg-regera

The Koenigsegg Regera only has one gear, no shifting at all. That officially makes this the supercar your girlfriend or wife can might be able to drive. Lucky you though, there were only 20 of these things sold and Koenigsegg says they’re only going to make 80 of them overall.  So if you have an extra…let’s call it $2,000,000 (official price tag is $1,890,000 before any taxes or fees) laying around or happen to with the $1.4B lottery  you might want to put your name down asap.

What kind of numbers is this thing putting out? Well, those are about as staggering as the price tag.  Just like the other hypercars you’ll find being produced right now, it uses both a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine and three electric motors for a total combined output of 1.11 megawatts. However, unlike the other hypercars that are putting out south of 1,000 hp, the Regwhich converts to 1509 metric horsepower—or 1489 horsepower on America’s SAE measuring stick. Koenigsegg claims the 0-to-400-kph (249 mph) acceleration time of less than 20 seconds makes the Regera—Swedish for “to reign”—the fastest-accelerating car in the world.

Ooh, we forgot one thing, the Regera is RWD. Sooo, yeah, putting that type of power to the ground isn’t all that easy, but it still manages to pull off a 0-60MPH in 2.7 seconds.
